The Routemaster bus has become one of the best-known symbols of London. This version of the R.M.-type, which involved input from designer Douglas Scott, is a typical example of the design produced during the 1960s. The bus was jointly manufactured by Associated Equipment Company and Park Royal Vehicles, and entered service at Middle Row Garage near Westbourne Park. Later, it was allocated to West Ham and Dalston bus depots and then moved to Ash Grove garage in Hackney. Whilst at Ash Grove it was chosen to become a show bus, and was restored to its original livery colours by the garage staff. It entered the London's Transport Museum collection in 1985.
