Wooden bench, once used as a throne by the chiefs of the Songo group (Angola).

Its rounded seat is supported by a caryatid, with elbows resting on her knees, representing a female ancestor.

Transferred in 1963 from the General Overseas Agency to the Museum of Ethnology, this is most probably an object collected by a local colonial administrator.
