The nine photos of Rua Direita were taken in one of the busiest areas of São Paulo. With the camera nearly resting on the ground, Andujar enlarges the people and shrinks the buildings, valuing the passersby, while, at the same time, transforming herself — and the spectator — into the subject of the image. This ensemble is an example of the best aspects of the tradition of street photography practiced in the United States and largely unexplored in Brazil.
