In 1978 Miuccia Prada and her husband Patrizio Bertellli took over the family business established by her grandfather, Mario Prada, in 1913. Together they turned it into a global luxury goods brand. During the 1980s a black Prada bag became the ultimate status symbol for the discerning client. Worn by both genders, this functional rucksack became a classic.
