Rudder head of a coaster, e.g. a 'hoeker', shaped like a man's head with blond hair. On the head the man wears a helmet with feathers, with the upper part of a lion's head on the front, wings on either side, and entirely on top is a crocodile (on top of the lion's head). Next to the crocodile are a kind of leaves. The man wears a white collar around the neck. Below is a green base.
The ruddder head is made of wood, and is painted polychrome and gilded.
In the rudder head different stories are mixed together. First of all, the lion's head refers to Hercules, the strongest man in the world. The wings refer to the god Mercury or Hermes. Dimensions of the rudder head (lxwxh): 71 x 78 x 98 cm.
