This saddle was owned by Tachibana Muneshige. It is coated with gold nashiji, or pear skin patterned lacquer. The family crest ‘Gyoyo’, which is made of silver kirikane, or cutting foil, is attached on the front and back panels.
The official crest of the Tachibana family is now Gion-mamori. However, many belongings of the first Lord Muneshige had the Gyoyo crest on them.
