This safety helmet made of leather was additionally provided with iron fittings for mounting a miner's lamp. Leather helmets first saw widespread use in the 1930s. This helmet has three air holes on each side in addition to a reinforced centre section. The hole in the small leather screen was commonly used to hang the helmet from a hook.
