In the eleventh book of the Bhagavatapurana Krishna decides to destroy the Yadavas, his own clan, who pose a threat to the earth. He induces youths to play a nasty trick on the wise old men. They disguise a man as a pregnant woman and ask the sages to identify the unborn child’s gender. Outraged, the sages cursed the man to give birth to an iron pestle that would annihilate all of the Yadavas.
