This exhibition sees the Sahara through the lens of archaeology and explores the many different facets of the largest land space in Africa. The exhibition takes you on a journey from before the Sahara became a desert through to the earliest cultures and people in the Sahara, the domestication of animals and the trade routes, some of which are still popular today.
The exhibition includes images of rock art paintings and drawings, cultural items, the skulls of animals such as elephants, hippos and giraffes that used to populate the desert, including some which still do.
