The dragon slayer George rescued a village from a monster. At first the dragon had been content with two lambs a day which the villagers brought to appease him. Soon, however, they could not find any more lambs, and instead sacrificed their own children. When it was the king’s daughter’s turn to be sacrificed, George appeared to kill the dragon. In return for his act of heroism he asked the citizens to convert to Christianity.
