Saint Barbara

Saint Barbara is produced from a relief panel made from compressed coal and along with the halo, as a general attribute of a saint, is also clearly characterised as a patron saint of the miners guild with a hammer and pick, pit lamp and the lettering Good Luck. The material used for the sculpture reinforces the reference to the coal mining industry.
