Salford Lads Club was built as a sports and social club for young men in 1904. It was designed by architect Henry Lord for patrons JG and WG Groves. Built in red brick with terracotta dressings, it has an eclectic Renaissance style. The building is famous internationally due to it being the setting for the inner sleeve artwork of the album 'The Queen is Dead' by The Smiths.
