Russian SAM-7 missile launcher, 72.2 mm (2.84") caliber. Weapon used in the Sokoa operation, named after the furniture warehouse where the terrorist group ETA was captured, in Hendaye (France), in November 1986. It was a joint operation between the Spanish and French special forces, as well as U.S. intelligence. With intel that the terrorist organization was interested in acquiring this type of weapon, the operation was set up to introduce two of these missile launchers on the black market. The weapons were disarmed and fitted with a tracking device in the hope that they would be bought by the group. Although the operation had its difficulties, it resulted in a large arsenal of weapons and munitions being intercepted, as well as documents that proved very significant in the fight against terrorism.
