What contains in the floral medallions on this item is a pair of birds standing face-to-face on a palm-tree-shaped pedestal. Densely-arranged check patterns are applied to the body of birds while tails of the birds are divided into two parts, with the upper section curling upwards to form a loop while the lower leaning downwards resulting in a hook. A ribbon is attached to each of the bird, signifying the traditional Chinese belief that the power of emperors is bestowed by Heaven, or that emperors as incarnation of Heaven are immortal. To unveil the greatness and gloriousness of Heaven and his blessings to people, this piece was designed to bring luck, victory and fortune to people as well as prosperity to the world.
