San Felipe church

The church of San Felipe was built in the 13th century. The western façade stands out with its transitional Romanesque style. It is placed between two marvellous buttresses and crown by three rose windows. Inside it has three naves, the central being the highest. They are separated from each other by five arches standing on slender columns with extraordinary capitals with floral motifs. The high altar is rectangular and the apse, semicircular and covered by a dome with four spheres. It keeps two holy water fonts: one of them very old and the other one classical style. It also treasures a magnificent baptismal font. It has an octagonal bell tower which is not completely attached to the temple as it was built upon one of the turrets of the old twon wall. The emblem of the archbishop Ximenez de Rada is on its entry arch.
