Sanctification Cross

Golden cross with elaborate, exceptional floral decoration by thin laminates worked with remarkable craftsmanship. In the center there is a carved wooden cross depicting Crucifixion at the front, with the four Evangelists on the endings of each of the four arms of the cross. At the back, the Baptism is represented, as is usual in sanctification crosses. The work probably comes from a workshop of Ioannina.
