Scanner’s delight comes from imagining the mental space of a future entity, a hybrid from plants and artificial intelligence that inhabits a cyberspace underground, among roots and fungi. In this multiverse, there are only a few vestiges of human presence and its culture, leaving to these new entities the freedom to build simulations of their ancestors, the humans. The work is part of my project “Éramos la humanidad” (We were mankind) that emerges from the reflection on how ideas, thoughts, and images (memes) that jump from mind to mind shape our models of cultural reality and how a great deal of those models imposes a separation between natural and artificial. Aren’t language and artificial intelligence part of nature? To delve into these issues, I work with my brother Joan Sol Roo (programming), and we collaborate with different artificial intelligence systems that create simulations, environments, objects, and events.
