Scarab Seal

National Museums Liverpool

National Museums Liverpool
United Kingdom

Scarab of green glazed steatite with a carved representation of Sobek as a crocodile headed man. There is a wax impression made by Professor Percy Newberry. Compares very well with one illustrated in Petrie's 'Buttons and Design Scarabs' (London1925) pl. XV no. 1070, although described as representing Taweret.
