The Scarlet Ibis is a gregarious wader that lives in large groups of up to 2,000 birds. Both males and females sport the bright red plumage and legs of the same color. Scarlet Ibises use their down-curved beak to forage in the mud for insects, crabs, worms, fishes and mollusks.
