The Western Yellow Wagtail (Motacilla flava) is widespread in Central South and Southeast Europe. Here, it is frequently inhabiting the lowlands. It can also be found in Egypt, Israel, Syria as well as Northern Iran. The bird is mostly breeding in plain areas with short weeds or sedges. It is also living in swamps and in the marsh area. Their main food source are flies, mosquitos, beetles, locusts, spiders as well as small snails and worms. The displayed preparation comes from the collection of Ernst Gloyer.
