Oskar and Emilie Schindler saved over a thousand Jewish lives during the Nazi regime. The Schindlers had Jews work in a factory to make sure they were essential factory workers so that the Nazi government couldn't place them into extermination camps. Oskar and Emilie Schindler are heroes because they risked their lives to protect the innocent during a time of fear and uncertainty.
