There is nothing to betray the fact that a battle took place idyllic Tollense valley between 1200 and 1300 B.C.E. in the course of which at least 125 people lost their lives. The discovery in 1996 of a human upper arm bone with a flint arrowhead lodged in it led to the finding of Europe’s oldest known battlefield.
