The grave goods of this woman are unusually rich. Particular attention should be directed toward the brooch, which was laid on the woman’s mouth. This seems to be a Christian reinterpretation of the “Charon’s obol" from Greek mythology, which the ferryman Charon was paid to bring the dead across the river Styx from the realm of the living to the realm of the dead.
