1,298 goals in 384 competitive matches have been displayed on the scoreboard at the Bökelberg, donated by the Stadtsparkasse in 1974, 872 of them on Borussia's side. The first was scored by Jupp Heynckes on 24 August 1974 against Hamburger SV (1:3), the last by Thomas Kastenmaier on 29 May 1993 against 1 FC Nürnberg (2:1). After the Foals' eleven overtaxed their scoreboard in October 1984 with a 10-0 win over Eintracht Braunschweig, the 10.5-metre-long, 3.8-tonne stadium furniture was upgraded in 1985 to be able to display double-digit results - which were then no longer available. The piece, which cost 118,000 deutschmarks at the time, later stands in Rheydt's Jahn and Grenzlandstadion.
