The Roundhouse was built in 1846-7 as a locomotive shed. It was designed by Robert B Dockray for the London and North Western Railway and constructed by Branson & Gwyther. It has been used as a gin store and was converted for use as a theatre in 1967 and 1985. It is listed Grade II*.
