This scrapbook page for a 1935 Harlem Artist Guild "House Warming," lists Harlem Renaissance luminaires, Augusta Savage, Gwendolyn Bennett, Charles Austin, and Aaron Douglas, as officers and members of the Harlem Artists Guild. "The Guild sought to increase recognition of the contributions by Black artists and advocate for full participation in Federal Arts Projects funded by the Federal Works Progress Administration." Jefferson, a founding member of the Guild, "helped establish the Harlem Community Art Center in 1937 as a location for teaching and workshops."
