This sculptural ceramic bottle depicts a two-headed snake coiled on itself. Its spiral body shows water-related symbols (circles) and motifs that resemble the spots of the jaguar skin. The two-headed snake is a mythological being very significant in the Andean world. It is linked to shamanic visions, and is considered a connector between different worlds. In the Andes, the Milky Way or the rainbow sometimes is portrayed as an arched two-headed snake. (UH)
