Self-portrait

In the early 1920s Adolfo Apolloni was an influential figure in Rome’s political and cultural circles. Elected accademico di merito in 1903, he served as the Academy’s president for two terms. The self-portrait can be dated thanks to the inscription visible on an identical version at the Galleria Comunale d'Arte Moderna in Rome.
