"Catalan glassware from the Sixteenth to Eighteenth is with no doubt one of the most prominent examples in the field of art objects in our country throughout its history. Settled in a strong late medieval tradition clearly documented, Catalan furnaces production gave a qualitative leap since the early Sixteenth century, due to the incorporation of formal and technical postulates that came from the transformation of the Venetian glassware of the fifteenth century.

The incorporation of Venetian techniques and formal schemes would foreshadow Catalan glassware as one of the most important in southern Europe."
