This is a breastplate made up beads of the marine mollusk shell Spondylus sp. The ornaments of the elites of ancient Peru were made of materials that were not easily accessible to ordinary people. These show the exclusive access that the elites had to prestige goods. This is the case of the tropical seas shells, Strombus sp. and Spondylus sp. which had great symbolic importance in the Andean world as they were species related to the water cycle and the El Niño phenomenon, which periodically affects the central-Andean territory. Este es un pectoral formado por cuentas de la concha del molusco marino Spondylus sp. Los adornos de las élites del antiguo Perú fueron confeccionados con materiales que no eran fácilmente accesibles al común de la población. Estos muestran el acceso exclusivo que las élites tenían a bienes de prestigio. En algunos casos se trata de conchas de mares tropicales, como el Strombus sp. o el Spondylus sp. que tenían una gran relevancia simbólica en la cosmovisión andina, ya que eran especies vinculadas al ciclo del agua y al Fenómeno del Niño, que afecta periódicamente el territorio central-andino.
