Only one shoe of the original pair survives. It is decorated with pointed and scalloped leather trimmings. By this date, 1812, a taste for greater ornamentation had superseded the very simple style seen in the adjacent shoe of 1810. Also, the square throat is cut higher on the instep than it had been in the simpler shoes of the first decade of the century.
