The large silver vessel, originally with two handles, in which Schliemann found the gold jewellery belonging to the Treasure of Priam is ofparticular interest. It contains textile remains which clearly come from a piece of woven cloth that was originally wrapped around the jewellery. This container is the biggest and heaviest silver vessel to be found in west Asia Minor, and bears similarities with the precious metal objects from the Babylonian royal burials at Ur.
