Painted standing in a wooded landscape he is shown three –quarter length, leaning against a stone parapet. Wearing a fashionable periwig, in his left hand he holds a blue cape against his hip. His jacket is a golden-brown silk, split at the cuffs - under which is a fine white linen shirt with white lace cuffs.
