Sir William Lovelace of Bethersden (1561-1629): son of Serjeant Lovelace (see British School DPG372); soldier; knighted 1599; member of the Virginia Company; later a Kent magistrate and MP for Canterbury; he was a friend of Sir Dudley Carleton.

Inscriptions: Inscribed top right: 'Ano Dom:1600'; bottom right, in a later hand: 'Sir W Lovelace'.
