Siva Head

New Delhi , India

This most charming work of Gupta art is the terracotta head of Siva with matted locks tied in an unusual, prominent and graceful top-knot. His facial features are marked by the prominently arched eyebrows, sharp nose, short thick lips and elongated ears. The serenity on his face has been high-lighted by the drooping eyes which seem to concentrate on the tip of the nose. With the Parvati head from the same site, it presents the image of a most loving divine couple.
