Cheung has a particular interest in sculpture, and works with a diversity of media like woodcut and paper casting. He likes paper casting because it shares characteristics of both relief sculpture and print. In the early 1970s, he used to have Chinese almond cookies everyday and the cookies inspired him to adopt principle of the cake mould in art-making. He eventually developed the paper casting technique and made many relief prints.
