Chair of the winding engine operator

The winding engine operator of the Neuhaus pit sat on this chair well into the 1950s. He was responsible for controlling the mining hoist to transport materials. Only specially trained miners were used for this task. The chair is distinguished by its peculiar proportions that do not follow ergonomic considerations and only provided very lean operators with proper lateral support.
