Slip-painted bowl with Kufic inscription

Like the graphics artists of today, historic calligraphers played with the Arabic script to make it form patterns. Here the words form a pinwheel with the tall letters "A" and "L" forming spokes. The inscription says: "Eat from it that which is nourishing."
