Attached with five chains, this ornament has a length of 5.3 for its main part and an average length of 2.9cm for the chains. The making of this item involves forging and chasing. Its shape was moulded via hand forging, an ancient way to shape metals, and its decorative patterns such as the qilin, an auspicious mythological animal in traditional Chinese culture, were created by chasing, a classic technique of embellishing the surface of metalwork by indenting and protruding the design to create a relief pattern.
