Small Oaks

Small Oaks shows Remington's early painting style. Remington's color choices, as well, are far different. The subject matter here is Remington's beloved summer escape, the St. Lawrence River. This painting is related by subject to the small later paintings in the Newell Galleries. They are all places the artist loved and painted for his own enjoyment and to practice his development as a painter.
