This artwork illustrates the flying Buddhist prayer flags, a common scene in Tibet. In the eyes of believers of Tibetan Buddhism, each movement of the colorful banners on which Buddhist scripture is inscribed represents a chant of these sacred texts, expressing people’s prayers for blessing from the Buddha. And each round the string attached to the hand prayer wheel makes means reciting of the prayers engraved on the roller for once. By creating such a scene reflecting Tibetan prayer’s religious piety, the artisan believes that the insistence on belief by the Tibetan people, just as pure and strong as the snow lotus blossoms in the Mount Tianshan, is where the hope lies.
