A nude woman with indigenous features holding her face in hands and her elbows resting on a table. There is a head of an indigenous man and a pink container full of edible plants called huauzontles.
Carlos Arias works painting and embroidery. Lives in Mexico since 1988 and stops painting from 1994 to 2015 dedicated himself to embroiled. In 1998 Arias became professor at UDLAP.
This piece belongs to the artist first painting period a year before he left the paint for almos 20 years.
"Sobre la mesa Huauzontles" is part of a painting serie titled "sobre la mesa" produced between 1992-1993, they have in commom using a table to expose what is happening. In this Painting, he depict a bowl with huazontles, where the title comes from. The huauzontle is a endemical plant from Mexico and the colors of the painting also allude to the country.
In this painting we can see a large number of triangles in composition, given by the traze of lines and where the figures were paint. The main one is from by the woman, the head and huauzontles; others are in the shadows and form by the woman's arms.
