Span XII in detail

The central emblem, inferred from Bocchi, represents Mercury offering an uprooted flower to Ulysses: the mottoes in the original text are "Usum magistrum unum optimum" and "Experientia maior arte". This span is a reflection on Experience as a guide to the learning, and on efforts and exertion required to achieve the knowledge.
