This is a wooden spear thrower plated in gold and inlaid with stone (lapis or sodalite). It portrays a condor pecking a man who is probably dead. The spear throwers are weapons used in the deer hunt, an activity that had a important symbolic meaning in the societies of ancient Peru, since the noblemen who hunt the deer identified with the jaguar attacking its prey.
