Military issue eyeglasses issued to 49264 Gnr. Hugh Rayment Nairn, 2nd N.Z. Divisional Artillery, 2NZEF. Steel frame spectacles in black hinged-lid case issued in 1942 while Nairn was in Fiji - tinted lens made it possible to spot airplanes despite glare. These spectacles were designed for ordinary use and for use when wearing a gas mask. Nairn wore them for a short while post-war.
