Spiral (Espiral) is a creation from Irons, the first series Pablo Serrano developed following his return to Spain. To create this piece he became completely immersed in informalist abstraction. Based on the idea of order in chaos typical of this first series, and through the practice of assembly, Serrano composes this sculpture with different scrap iron pieces which form one of the most harmonic and elegant compositions throughout the whole series. Instead of the sharp profiles that dominated a large part of Irons, the artist builds a small-sized sculpture made of organicist shapes and an effective balancing act, giving the piece an evident sensation of lightness, reinforced by the unique range of materials used.
