The museum’s collection of Iranian pottery is a testament to the many travellers, collectors, scholars and donors who made it possible. Most of the pieces are pottery vessels with whitish, black or greyish polished bases and geometric motifs painted in ochre pigment found at Tepe Hissar, Tepe Giyan and Tepe Sialk. The jugs with very long spouts are particularly beautiful, with their striking shapes and painted motifs against a creamy background. The spouts of these vessels end in horse or bird shapes.
