Wadjet, the cobra goddess whose name means "the Green One" or "She of the Papyrus", represented Lower Egypt in the royal titulary together with the vulture goddess Nekhbet, who represented Upper Egypt. The two goddesses formed the title for one of the five official names of the Pharaoh, symbolizing the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt under his rule.Credit: Gift of Abraham Guterman, New York, to American Friends of the Israel Museum
