This Morse code writer dates back to the early collection from the Reichspostmuseum and has a very low inventory number from Berlin's central telegraph office. It seems to have arrived in Germany around 1850. Whether it was used on one of the early telegraph lines or served as a model for German machines remains as unclear as the issue of whether it came from Charles and William Robinson or whether it was produced directly by the US using other methods.
