Rijksmuseum
Amsterdam, Netherlands

A number of costly objects have been arranged in a niche, against a dark background: a silver jug, which is decorated with auricular ornaments, a gilded silver glass holder, and a costly Wan-li porcelain bowl. And yet the artist was not interested in the individual objects. They are not portrayed in any detail and are only partially visible. He used them mainly to exploit the play of reflected light.

Purchased in 1821.
